The New Golden Dawn Diner was a very popular establishment for both Maple Shade residents and anyone with an appetite for great food and comfortable atmosphere. From Cheese Steak to Cheese Cake and everything in-between. If you had a meal at the New Golden Dawn diner it was guaranteed that you would be back to try the rest of the menu.

Photios Photoiou had come from Cyprus. He loved America, and his wife, Niki, followed him to the United States after he had been here a few years. About 35 years ago, the Photoiou family bought the diner, formerly the Maple Shade Diner, with Maria and George Romanos.

The diner was a business where their three children, now in their 20s, have worked, and where some employees have stayed with them since the 1970s.

Approximately 11:30 pm Sunday, September 8th, after the diner had closed for the night, a fire broke out in the kitchen. By 1:30 am the next morning it was brought under control . . .
